what to wear for senior photos

I'm not gonna lie...picking out outfits for my senior pictures was STRESSFUL. I mean, these outfits are going to be memorialized in my pictures forever, and that seems like a lot of pressure!

One thing that helped lessen that pressure for me was that I thought no matter what I wear, it's going to be out of style someday. I'll probably laugh at it as an adult, and if my kids are cool they'll want those outfits to wear as vintage pieces. Just saying.

I ended up not being set on my outfits until  an hour before my pictures, but I'm happy with how they turned out! So, I thought I'd put together some tips for you upcoming seniors and juniors :-)

1. WEAR YOUR FAVORITE COLOR
Whoever said you have to wear neutral colors for pictures has probably never posed in front of a camera wearing a bright dress. It's SO fun. One of my favorite colors is orange, so I wore a red-orange broderie style dress that ended up being great in photos. Wear the color you love.

2. WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD
You've probably heard to wear a pants outfit, a skirt outfit, a dress, and so on. I say wear what you like! For me, pants are not my favorite things to wear. So, I didn't wear them and packed denim shorts and lots of dresses instead. If you wear something you love, your confidence will show in pictures.

3. SHOW OFF YOUR PASSIONS
For some of my pictures, I wore my cross country jersey. Running has been a big part of my high school career, and I wanted the photos to reflect that! If you are passionate about a sport or activity, consider wearing something from it.

4. REWEAR AN OCCASION DRESS
When I was talking with my mom about potential outfits, she told me I should wear something the same color as my homecoming dress. So, I decided to just wear my homecoming dress! It's the perfect way to get another use out of a dress I wore once but feel happy in. I just toned it down with simple pearl studs and sandals/bare feet.

Remember, senior pictures are about YOU! They show off all the things you've accomplished in high school and are basically a celebration of how cute and awesome you are. So enjoy and be yourself!

Some items I think would look great in pictures...

PS: if you're in the Dayton area and need a photographer... hit up my girl Kate Skardon. She took all of my photos and made the process super easy! Tell her I sent ya :-)
